Location – Henley On Thames, London, UK

Our camera crew followed him as he planned the big jump day.

Interviewing his family along the way about the real risks that were present should a slight change in wind of mis calculation happened. We got some moving responses and emotions ran high at times.

On the day we headed up all video production media filming and news crews. Coordinating the technical aspects with the production companySugar Glass Productions.

The jump was covered by the worlds News with a Live Sat truck broadcasting the event on Sky News as it happened. Cheers roared as Gary climbed out of the boxes and staggered to hug his wife. We where the official and only camera crew allowed to get the first interview. We had built a relationship up with Gary and we all celebrated his achievement!

The multi camera shoot involved 12 cameras and 2 documentary crews.

Shot on a mix of cameras due to the needs on the different areas to film. We had 2x Canon C300s with a Sound recordist and director following Gary in the pre flight checks and one with his family. 3 Canon X305s on towers for wide shots of the landing. As we could not be sure of exactly the landing position we needed to be ready to make sure it was not missed. A sony EX3 with long lens and follow focus was used to track Gary as he flew through the area.

10 Canon 5d mkii and 7ds’ were used as different wide shots cross shooting in the towers and one clamped to under the helicopter.

A RED Epic provide a down the line wide shot of the landing. Recording Slow mo to get the impact in its full drama.

Gro Pro Mini cameras were placed on Gary and his flight companion as well as in the helicopter.

We had a time lapse of the set up on the day of the  box rig. Over 50 people turned up to build the boxes and make sure that none were damaged ready for the stunt.

During the rehearsals Gary did the jump from the helicopter and pulled a parachute at the last minute, practicing the line of flight.
